How to replace your 1-Bar MAP with a Delco 2-Bar

I want to know what GM parts to buy in preparation for my 2-bar upgrade. I also want to know how to replace my 1-Bar MAP such that the VCM is happy with the 2-Bar MAP and everything works as expected.

There must be some re-calibration to deal with the different pressure range over the same 0-5v output on the sensor. (Unless there's a chance the engineers at GM have good foresight...)

So, how does it work? Hoping Ken or Chris will chime in here to set it straight so when someone else searches they get their questions answered in this thread. Couldn't find it in past threads.

Someone at least give me a part number; I'm ordering parts from the dealer today. Or are all of you people running naturally aspirated setups?

I just replaced mine today. I used a 2-bar from a 2005 supercharged Impala so that my stock connector plug would fit. You have to do a complete rewrite of your VCM so that it will see and work properly with the 2-Bar. Follow the instructions in Help-Operating System-2-Bar Map.

Re: How to replace your 1-Bar MAP with a Delco 2-B

Has anyone tried using a 2-bar MAP without the 2-bar HPtuners OS upgrade?

This would involve re-scaling the VE table. (so that 50kPa in the table actually represented 100kPa in reality)

I am wondering if this would work.

Both MAP sensors are 0-5v output. The difference is the calibration psi/v.

    1 Bar Map - 5v = 100kPa, 0v = 0kPa (absolute vacuum)
    2 Bar Map - 5v = 200kPa, 0v = 0kPa (absolute vacuum)

Since the output voltage is the same, the OS must be modified to reflect the additional kPa scale.

Where else, besides the VE table, is the MAP sensor input used?

    spark tables
    injector tables

all over the place... rescaling it would not be a simple job.
