Disconnecting MAF causes Reduced Engine Power??

Has anyone else run into this while doing VE tuning?

It's been a while since I last did any of this, but before I get started again, I want to make sure that I don't have some other problem(s) that I need to deal with.

I disconnected the MAF (99 3.8 Camaro), did one run, in second gear, to max out the tach without engaging PE, and turned the car off to adjust the STFTs. Oh yeah, I also disabled the LTFTs for this.

When I started the car back up, same conditions as above, I put it in gear to do another run, and the Reduced Engine Power light came on, and the engine made no power, of course. I turned the car off, re-connected the MAF, and it ran fine after that.

Anybody have any ideas, or run into this?

Did you happen to disable the MAF code before going SD? That would be my only thought. I would guess that at the second ignition failure of the MAF the pcm said "no" and went to limp mode.
