I've been running OVI for over a year now and I can say that my exhaust tips get almost as dirty and almost as quickly as my vehicles with GTDI engines. I could have sworn my gas mileage went down a bit as well, but nothing concrete as the road conditions/driving patterns have greatly differed due to construction last year and COVID19 this year. Doing a search through some white papers, the general consensus seems that OVI helps reduce cold emissions but once the engines were warmed up, there was no real difference. OVI didn't seem to perform as good as CVI due to less fuel/air mixture volatility.

I've been using stock settings (basically OVI never gets enabled) and it seems gas mileage is up a bit slightly and my exhaust tips/mufflers don't get as hot. The Explorer has axle-backs and during the summer and fall with OVI enabled, the tips and mufflers got so hot that I could feel them through the trunk lining in the rear hatch area. That never felt normal.
