Replacing VCM 1998 Chevy Van With GM Remanufactured unit

    Hello,

New to HP tuners and I am needing a little assistance, I am installing a GM remanufactured VCM in a 1998 chevy van with a 4.3. The original ECM was unreadable so I cannot read the vehicle info to write the info to the replacement PCM. Furthermore the reman ECM still has info programmed in it from a 1998 Chevy truck with a V8.

What do I do next? Any help is appreciated.

I would program the replacement computer with a GM tool and then install it in the van.

Using HP Tuners wouldn't be the route I would take. It would cost you too many credits and it could even brick the computer when trying to write a 4.3 calibration file over a 5.0/5.7 calibration file.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

Thank you very much for the feedback, I am still very new to hptuner family, still a lot to learn. I will haul this van to my local dealership and have them program it for me.

I have a couple other questions with regard to vin information and credits...
