O2 Heater Code Questions
I deleted my rear o2's before owning any tuning software, so I still have 4 pesky permanent codes that I cannot remove. To my understanding, once the pcm sees whatever the issue the permanent code is becomes resolved, the code will then be removed (I assume this will also take multiple drive cycles). All 4 permanent codes I have are for the rear O2 heaters and rear O2 heater circuits. It is also to my understanding that modern o2 sensors contain their own heating element. Would I be correct in assuming that simply plugging in the 02's and taping them to frame (no bungs in current exhaust) would run the 02 heaters and clear these codes? Also, once these codes are gone, I would assume that disabling the codes would prevent them from coming back on again. If there is a reason this wouldn't work, can someone explain why, and also give any pointers on my other options? I threw out my old sensors and wouldn't want to buy a set of new ones for nothing.
