Hey there boys.....
Last week an 07 Trailblazer SS came in for tuning.... It has the regular K&N intake, high flow cats, and cat back....
I tuned it like normal and it ran like a raped ape....The guy loved it... Only to come back a week later with a few codes....
Cooling fan rationality code.????
Fuel Trims lean...
First off...I've tuned a bunch of 06 TB SS's (all E-40's) and never a hitch....But, this new E-67 thing...yuck...
After a few days, the guy complained that the throttle would "go dead" and not respond when the vehicle was cold and he was light on the throttle.... When I tested it, it was warm and hardly did it....
Next, when I initially tuned it, I had my fuel trims looking great...When the guy came back I had LTFT's in the lower maf values at like 17-22... and scattered....
So, I made the normal maf table adjustments to add some fuel...and it went WAY rich....by alot more than I expected...and guess what???!?!? The throttle "deadness" got much worse.... MAN, I've had rich LTFT's in the past, but never did it effect the electronic throttle! I seems that there must be some kind of throttle limiting when the fuel trims go way out...or so it would seem....
Know what? Either this new E67 is way different on the inside...or it's time for me to retire from tuning......or both.... Anyone else had this experience????
This whole thing stinks of the new "NO VE TABLE" crap-ola. I'm seeing patterns here similar to that of tuning camshafts in E-38 vehicles....with no VE table.
Where, oh where, is CHRIS from HPT when you need him????
