Is it true HPTuner wont work with certain early models 2004's because the boot loader isn't supported? If so what are my options. Going with diablo? A 2005 pcm? Updating existing boot loader?

It is not a bootloader issue. It is a wiring issue. I have detailed the fix in the other thread:
