    07 Colorado error 8a

While writing the VCM at the finalizing step the gauge all the sudden started beeping low fuel/traction control and VCM write couldn't be completed stuck at the last step of "begining low communication" or something like that.

Now I can't rewrite the VCM, getting error 8a and the car doesn't start. Help?!

Now I got it to write after hooking up jump start cables, the battery could've been to low. However at the very last step of the write it keeps switching between

    Retry: Disabling normal communications
Retry: Returning to low speed communications

    and doesnt want to write...

What version of software are you running?

It was stuck between retrying to write for about half an hour. I aborted since it wasnt going anywhere and now it's showing code 8a again at step 5 writing entire VCM - failed .

I have consistent voltage, my car is hooked up with jumper cables to the colorado

If the battery was low or subpar replace the battery & try the write again. Using a charger or jumper cables could be causing more issues then helping. Also were you doing a write calibration only or write entire when it failed? What are you doing now? Write cal only or write entire?

Only write entire seems to be getting any effect. After numerous fails - error 8a it eventually comes to write the VCM but towards the end cycles between

    retry: beginning high speed mode
retry: returning to low speed communications
    retry: disabling normal communications

and doesn't do anything and you have to abort...

also tried disabling high speed but then it doesn't even want to write

You should never be doing write entire unless you are changing operating systems which there really is no reason for you to be doing this.

Why did you start doing write entires?

originally did a write calibration and it failed so I tried write entire which also failed and consequently the car wouldn't start or connect to scanner. Now, write entire gets some effect but is stuck at the very last step as described above and cycles through the retries.

The problem with doing a write entire is usually when you do one you can't then go back to doing write calibration only's which are much safer for the sake of your pcm.

In any event send an email to support with a vcm suite infolog while connected to your pcm and we'll try to get you up and running tomorrow morning.

You were right about the jumper cables. We took everything off and hooked the battery charger up for about half an hour, then retried "write calibration only" and it finally went through ok. Tune turned out great in the end but definitely gave me a heart attack in the beginning; thanks for the help .
