Greg, Micah and I really enjoyed the class last weekend! Thanks!
I have an HPTuners question if you have time. We had a 2000 LS1 gt4202 Camaro on the dyno today and had some unusual problems. The car came off the trailer running very rich (lamda .5) and we brought it up to about 130 degrees F, removed fuel from the main VE table (.5 X the entire table) and the car wouldn't start. Reloaded original tune, car wouldn't start. Changed the plugs, car fired right up still running a Lamda of .5, leaned out main VE by .5, car wouldn't start, reloaded original tune, car wouldn't start. Someone suggested setting VAT from none to PWM car started, loaded it on the trailer and sent it away - 8 hours to do basically nothing. What is VAT=PWM?

Thanks in advance - HPTuners newbie.....

I got my Tuning school kit yesterday wow that was fast!
Very impressed. Talk about step by step! Just what I needed!
Too many pro tuners think everything is a secret.
Now I can answer my own damn questions
Thanks so much! Very happy so far!
    Thanks again Bob !

Glad you enjoyed the class, Mike.

You may want to start a new thread to discuss this particular car. Having it buried here may not get the attention deserved.

"VATS" = Vehicle Anti Theft System, which can be either serial or PWM depending on how it's configured in the body module/key. Typically, if you fail VATS the fuel pump will turn off after about 3 seconds and you stall.

Fouled plugs will certainly hurt your ability to get any real work done.

It also sounds like perhaps the injector constants need to be corrected. Chances are that a turbocharged car has something non-stock for injectors. Remember that if the injector values are wrong, it's going to screw up your ability to do anything correctly with either VE or MAF calibration.

You also need to verify what AFR you're commanding. If you're still in warm-up, you may not yet be commanding lambda=1.00, so you can't yet just apply the delivered lambda as a correction factor until this is true. (Actual/target, remember? )

Actually I wasn't doing the tuning, just renting the dyno and trying to assist when problems arose. This is the first time I've seen HPTuners and decided I need to learn more.... The tuner already did the cal for the injectors and there was no MAF, just SD tuning and I think he disabled closed loop. The strange thing is the VAT issue. Like you said, it ran for about three seconds and died until the VAT was set to PWM

mike ill send you a pm on what i did.. the maf was never 0 out and the dtc the ses lights was just turned off you have to set the mil on first...

and the ve table was no good..

hp tuners has a great tutorial that walks you through step by step on setting up a 2/3 bar sd.

    ttp://www.hptuners.com/help/demos/2%20bar%20sd.swf

very simple and gets you a good safe start up and run..

    Thanks

I Bought the tune at home set with current HPT MPVI pro and got the LM2 set up at the same time, did like above, and adjusted the fuel and ignition a little, didn't improve times ([email protected]) but she now does 1/3 track burnouts and that's on 19X8" rubber (full street trim is 19X8" wheels with 245/ 30 zr19's , KYB firm rate shocks and 3.5" lowered HD springs. Not what you would call a good drag setup). I'm in the process of setting the ute up for drags so I can get traction.
