I have a stock 2006 GTO with a few bolt-ons and I would like to tune it with HPT. Where do I get the O2 bung welded in so I can use the Wideband? I know its before the cats but there isn't much room between the exhaust manifold and the cats.

Several options come to mind.
1. The bank 2 pre-cat O2 sensor can actually be reached from inside the engine compartment (facing the car with the hood open it's on the left just below the starter).
You could then temporarily put the WB here and tune the car in open loop.
2. Unbolt the catted mid-pipe on either side (bank 2 side is a little easier to access) and have the bung welded just after the OEM bung.

Is there a way to tune if I put the Wideband O2 in the tailpipe?
Only if you remove the catalytic converters. But if you do that, you might as well use one of the secondary O2 sensor bungs.

I believe the drivers side bank is the lean bank. I put my wideband on the this bank.
I put mine there too
