BIN file size variation?

Has anyone ever noticed the file size difference between various BIN files for the v6 platform? I know the physical PCM's have 512kb rom chips in them yet the hpt file for my 02 grand prix for example was only 470ish kb...

I have a BIN file someone gave me which I'm assuming was read with some other tuner which is the EXACT same OS and CAL and this file is 512kb. I can't license it otherwise it would already be on the PCM... >.<

What happens to the other 40kb when I do a write complete? The said PCM is from a Bonneville and so I wrote a Grand Prix OS to it from the repository (don't worry, I did my research, it was the right HWID for the OS )

So does my car now have a PCM with 90% Grand Prix code and 10% Bonneville code on it? You guys know what I'm saying?

Okay, I've been told that HPT compresses their files.... that explains it!
