LNF VATS Unlock engine into a kit car

    Hi,

I am new to the forum and to the HP Tuners software.

I'm wondering if HPTuners software can now disable the Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) for the 2009 LNF Ecotec? I am purchasing one of these engines to use in my 1,500lb 2010 mid-engine tube-frame La Bala kit-car and would like to run the stock ECM if possible.

No VATS tables have been unlocked nor have we been able to find them in the code.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Thank you. If you do find them I would appreciate being informed about it.

you most definitely need to post more pics/video's of that car once you get that engine in.

There actually already is a La Bala (#0003) with a 260whp LNJ 2006 Cobalt SS motor in North Carolina. It uses an HPTuners touched ECU with the VATS disabled and a dyno tune. According to the owner even with 10" wide tires he can spin them at will in the first 4 gears and has no trouble keeping up with sportbikes at stoplights!

    This is it:

and here is another from a recent magazine photoshoot of mine, which is La Bala #0001. It has a 180hp Toyota 1.6L 4AGE Blacktop with velocity stack and stock ECU. The engine sound from this one is fantastic. It goes 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and I have averaged close to 50mpg over the past 20,000 miles. Nothing like shaving some weight and lowering aero resistance to improve mileage!

Having the VATS disabled is the #1 most important thing to be able to use the LNJ in these cars since the stock tune can shred the tires.

I've been made aware that there are LNF PCM's floating around that are not tied to the BCM in any way. I can only assume that means VATS is disabled. Found this out when I was considering using an LNF on a street rod project. I'll PM you the information, and who knows maybe something will come of it for you... especially if you could provide HPT with the OS dump.

The guys claimed the ECU's were from some race program Solstice as I recall.

    ---

I really like the La Bala's. I wish I had more time in my life to assemble one. Hopefully when I get settled into my new house I could possibly tackle a project like that. Honestly, I can't imagine how much ass that thing would haul with a tuned LNF in the back.

Helped a guy tune a K1 Attack once, which he upped the Honda F22 to a H22... was a really fun car.

I would be interested in one of these kit cars.

Your best bet to get an LNF engine inside of it would be to read this thread

    http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/showt...light=LNF+swap

Contact [email protected] for an ECU and ask him some questions about disabling that stuff they run an ECU swap store.

Find the harness from http://www.painlessperformance.com/ Or another vendor .

Or contact aerial atom a kit car company similar to this about how they trick the ECU..

The problem you might have is with the ECU and it's stability control system disabling the Traction control . stability control systems is going to be the hardest part also you would need stock pedals your own custom boost tubing stock high pressure fuel pump fuel tank , etc the list will go on ..

There is a 30 min VATS relearn procedure if you can't bypass it with HPT.
    Quote from an old email...
    You disconnect the battery
    Change the PCM
    Reconnect the battery
get in the car turn the key on
let it sit for 10 minutes or until the security light on your dash goes off
    then turn the car off
and turn it back on sit for another 10 minutes or until the light goes off
    then turn it off again
and turn back on and sit for 10 more minutes or until the light goes off
and it should start right up after shutting it off one more time
but you have to make sure you DO NOT touch or use anything electrical in the car like the radio and stuff because its learning the PCM. you also cannot open any doors or anything
you must do this even to switch back to your stocker

That only works if you are using a BCM and stock ignition swith with the VATS sensor. I doubt the OP is using any of that.
