Can I use a e67 ecu for my ly6 swap?

Im swapping a 08 ly6 with vvt into my 2000 Sonoma and was suggested to use a e67 ecu by the company I am going to have the engine harness made by. He suggested it because I am going to run a t56 transmission and I need a class 2 serial data cable for my gauges to work which a e38 ecu wouldnt be able to do either of these. So is he correct in saying that the e67 will be able to be used with the ly6 and vvt?

The E38 can handle the vvt end, but I don't know about the gauges. What kind of gauges are you going to run?

I am running the factory 2000 S10 gauges. I was originally planning on running the e38 since thats what is stock with these engines but when I emailed my wiring/tuning guy he wrote back with this
"I don't know what year your truck is, but you might want to consider an E67 computer, not the E38, if you want all your gauges and stuff to work afterwards."

2000 Sonoma, Currently 4.3 Auto going to be 6.0 ly6 vvt, t56 with a 4cyl cluster. Havent heard of the e67 ecu. Ill look into it, Its just when people have used a vvt setup they mentioned using the e38 ecu. Thanks I do want all my factory stuff to work along with vvt!

"The E67 would definitely be a better choice then.
You are gonna need a class 2 serial data wire, and the E38 does not have one."
"That's another advantage of the E67 over the E38.
The E67 has a 4k and a 128k pulse output. The ABS will use the 128k, and the speedo will use the 4k.
The E38 only has one speed output. The only way I could think to make it work in something like one of our trucks would be to run a Dakota Digital SGI-5 box tied straight in to the speed sensor to alter it for the speedo, and then use the 128k pulse out from the computer for the ABS.
But that still wouldn't address the need for the class 2 serial data stream. "

Well we figured it out. We're going to build a harness for the ly6 engine and use a e67 ecu since it has the class 2 serial cable so my gauges and abs works. Found out that the '10+ Colorado, Canyon and h3 with the 5.3 is vvt and uses the e67 ecu so Im going to use that as a base tune.

So what about the E38 in the 06 Silverados? Will it properly power the gauges and what else will need to be changed? Is the E38 engine harness remotely campatible with the 2006 Truck harness? I have looked around and haven't found any threads discussing this..

    thanks

The e38 ecu doesnt have a class 2 serial data output for gauges so it wouldnt work no matter what on my Sonoma.

    thanks
Not sure what you're trying to accomplish. If it's getting a 58x motor to work in a 06 Gen III 24x, then run the LPE adapter.

Yeah. I know. This stuff if you haven't been in it in a while takes forever to find the options available. You can spend a lot of time searching through this stuff finding what you need to know. I have the Lingenfelter converter coming. Also, Thunder Racing offers a very inexpensive kit to convert the VVT to non VVT since I don't have the computer or wires to support it.

I've got it covered now after about $1700 dollars worth of extras. This is for a customer who thought a newer 2010 short block would be better.
