    Car felt real laggy/inresponsive today.

    Hey guys,

still having the same issues as always, but today is the first day that my car has every fell supper laggy on the new tune. It was 27 degrees celsius here today which is pretty hot. The tune is pretty much finished as best as term can do with it. Theres no pending codes or anything. The knock seemed worse than it has been. Im wondering if a 1 step colder plug may help with the knock (ngk 3787's). This is getting to be a pain.

    Heres my log:

It's prolly from the massive KR and running single digit timing when that happens..

  3. #3
    Yeah, that's what I figured.....still haven't figured out what's causing the kr.

I had 1 customer with wild KR but we did get it figured out eventually. Did Term give up on it or are you still playing with it?

  5. #5
He said there's nothing more he can do. What ended up being wrong with the guys car that had the wild kr?

Do you think it may have something to do with the plugs? Could that be causing the misfires aswell. Yesturday was the worst the minor misfires have been, same with the kr.

I've had issues before with my PCM thinking that misfires were knock and pulling timing, that was back when I was getting spark blow out gapped at .044.

I didn't check the gap in them when they came from the dealership. I'm gonna throw in the stock ones tonight. See if it makes a difference. I doubt it will.

Do you guys think that improper gapped spark plugs could cause my issues?

too high of comp ratio plus lean mixture and larger gap can cuz misfires and poor performance
My setup is a 356ci with a 260/268 (212/218 at .050 lift) duration cam with aluminium corvette heads and flat top pistons running 11.3 comp. ratio. with tuned port injection and vortec crank pick up and dizzy running a 411 pcm and 60lb bosch injectors, 1.6 ratio roller rockers. For transmission its a 4l65e built with the monster in a box mega ss kit. All in a 92 chevy ext cab 4x4 pickup with a 98 cab now installed with a third door! running only e85

so my buddy is a mechanic and im going to his garage sunday. Hes gonna do a compression test and a few other tests just to see if we can figure out whats going on.

What should the compression be acorss the board? Whats too high and whats too low?

160 is about the norm. Service manual says to pull all 4 plugs, coils & the fuel pump fuse and roll it through 4 comp strokes with the throttle wide open IIRC. Mine was 160 - 165 at 50k miles after replacing the injectors & injector seals. Anything >130 you should be fine as long as they are all about the same. If you find one at 90, you may have piston/ring issues.

That's normal to see when it knocks. (not that the knock is normal, just the black smoke is while knocking)
