97 grand am 3.1 v6 negative spark issue!!!!

Well I was logging my buddy's 97 grand am 3.1 v6 and all I was seeing was negative spark timing. He says it has wasted spark. The tune calls for all possitive timing of coarse but the spark never fired before tdc on the compression stroke. I'm not familiar with how this system really works. Is it crazy to think that the wasted spark firing plug wire needs to be switched with the compression stroke plug wire? if that makes sense........

oh and there's no detected misfires

97's read a negative value but its just the way GM defined it.

ie negative 40* actually equals positive 40*
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Hmm so if the log is showing -25* it's actually +25*? I had a feeling that's what was going on here. So I shouldn't even worry about the negative value right?
