Is there any way to put a "Performance" switch/button
on a car so that we can use the "Performance tables"?

So far, only with some detailed OS fiddling and
adding wires to PCM connectors. Not with normal
OS, which (on trucks) listens to the BCM for this.
If you tune the trans well, I don't think you need
a separate mode for cars. Maybe trucks where
you would want very different shifting for tow.
Cars, just fit up the shifts to your personal driving
preference.

i think a v6 camaro

yes, 2002 v6 camaro
Didnt mean to say tables.
I would like to have a Performance button where it changes out the whole tune of the car, not just the tranny functionalities.
Would also be cool to have a Hot/Cold Performance button for different weather conditions. But I guess thats what the High/ Low Octane tables are there for.
oh yah, and have a Performance shift button
for telling your computer to shift high or shift lower
(for mpg)
or tune the transmission shift tables and your foot will detrermine if you shift high or low...Originally Posted by slow6
sounds like right now you suffer from driver error....not from need of a switch

The grand prix's have performance shift, and the trucks have tow mode, which in the tables it is called performance shift anyway.
I dont have a A4 table right on my drive, but I wil get one from Horist site.
Does it have the performance tables in it now? If not, then the OS might have it, but HP Tuners did not map it to the table editor. The performance shift button flags 2 bytes 00 or 01 to be off or on.
Even if I find that the performance shift tables might be there, HPT might not want to map that to the current editor because it would really be consider "custom" OSID changes. They have to dig in the CAL with IDA to find the tables.

yeah they pretty much all have a normal & performance table...i know my 94 formy had the performance shift button...dunno if ls1 or 3.8 powered firebirds had that option though

I've also thought about this as well. In my previous Audi turbo, I had a tune that provided several tunes in one VCM...stock,performance(93oct),performance(100oct) , and valet-mode(engine wouldn't rev over 3K rpm). This was all controlled with some creative use of the cruise-control button and making the SES light flash a certain number of times.
This was usually used for those trips to the dealer for warrantee claims, where a chipped ecu would void the warrantee. Stock going in to dealer, performance tune driving away. It was great, there must be a way to do this....just need to find it.
