    Exclamation Idle Control Explained

I've started tuning on an 09 SRT8 Challenger, and have been able to get the AFR dialed in PT and WOT, but my next thing to tackle is the idle. The car is cammed and obviously needs some work in the idle tables to get it to idle and not stall.

I've been trying to read about as much idle control as I can on the forums, but it seems like the Dodge stuff is much different than GM/Ford. Does anyone have a good grasp on the algorithm dodge uses to calculate the idle control feedback? I will be tackling the idle control this weekend, and hope to get some input from guys with more experience before I go trying to reinvent the wheel. Any help or suggestions are welcomed.

    TIA

    Jim

throttle vs airflow should help you out as well as all target idle tables, there are alot of them

How did this go for you, learn anything about the idle control that might be useful?

I did find that reducing the proportional tables helped keep the car from stalling, but I do get occasional stall in park/N so I have to play around a bit more with those tables.

I still don't fully understand the idle algorithm, so anyone with more experience that would be willing to explain, or discuss some of the procedures they go through when setting up idle would be greatly appreciated. Until then I'll continue to make changes and check results.

Care to expand on this more? I'm not sure what throttle vs airflow table you're talking about or anything of the sort under the idle tab, is this more related to the ETC?

    Here ya go.

I've still got to work on the timing tables, as it pulls a ton of timing up top, but otherwise drives pretty good. Feel free to comment on anything else you may see, as I'm new to tuning on the dodges.

The car is an '09 SRT8 Challenger, Auto, 3200 stall converter, MTCM, SRT Max Cam, Full exhaust, CAI.

    Thanks,

    Jim

    go to Airflow/electronics throttle

throttle body airflow adjust 0 to .5 cells for zero cell put 10 for starters and give it a try IDLE/RPM

also target around 750 idle speed in your IDLE/RPM

there seems to be some missing tables that also control reverse idle speed

your WOT timing is a little high for these cars. dont like much of it.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot and see how it works.

I am having a TON of issues just in reverse, gets into a massive surge cycle as soon as I touch the throttle. I do not see anything for reverse idle in my NGC3 CAN 2.25 editor. Do you have any names of the tables so I can request they be added?

Are you having any issues with it stalling out while your driving it around?

Thanks a lot!! Do you have any idea if these should be present in the NGC3 CAN or would these only be in later PCM types?
