    2015 + DI 4.3 V6 tuning ideas

    Hi folks,
noob to tuning the new GM ECU's - and would like to do a V6 swap. This engine is only available (afaik) with automatics and i will be going manual - so i have a couple of questions:
    a) can an auto trans ecu be configured to run with a manual trans, or is this a huge amount of work?
    b) this engine is available in a marine version - which i think would be only in gear or out, plus throttle position, as main human controlled inputs, so i think this may be the way to go.

    Any help and ideas appreciated.

    Thanks,

    CC

    Welcome!

I cant help with the auto vs manual discussion, have to have someone else chime in. For the marine version, they use a completely different ECM. It may look like the same production GM ECM, but it's called a MEFI7 and cannot be tuned with HPTuners. From a tune-ability perspective, I'd suggest you stick with the factory GM ECM if possible.

back on this engine combination. I have contemplated this swap for my camaro. It seems like a viable option. I know there is not much info on the swap but if I find an engine, transmission, wiring harness and the computer can I just swap this? I have done a couple ls swaps but those are so common there is lots of info on them. I didnt know what the chances of dropping it in as is and getting it running like "stock"?

TO CCSC: Not much work at all is needed to convert, just delete DTC's & remove limiters and TM. Table values from almost any manual transmission tune will work for the converted donor ECM. I would go with whatever engine version is cheapest and you'll be most comfortable with. TO CUSTOM 68: On top of what you've listed also save the: Drive By Wire Throttle Body as well as the Drive By Wire Accelerator Pedal and maybe the Fuel Pump & System components and you should be alright with most of todays modern GM swaps.

Thank you guys, I am in the process of purchasing one out of a wrecked truck. I dont know what I will get into but if it all goes as I hope it should be a fun project and a great driver when I have it all completed. I think in a lighter car it will have great potential

Just curious to see if any additional tuning info has been done on these motors?

I just wanted to bring this back up. I am working on the swap still but I did get the wiring done to the point I could start this. I tuned out the VATS and started it. So far so good. I am a long way from completing the Camaro I have it in but was starting to think about the tune. For now things will be "stock" however due to the swap it will have a CAI that is a nice clean intake along with no CATS so the exhaust will be pretty open. Of course I will need to work on the speedometer settings for the tire sizes.
I think the tunes on these are pretty good from GM but know there is always a bit more and was curious if anybody has taken the chance to tune on the CI 4.3?
