Is the MAF disabled?
Is the MAF disabled?
Yes MAF is disabled, Ive been running SD only, daily for the last 2 weeks.
Thanks for your interest and input. I teach the Hi-performance class with another instructor, we are trying to get a handle on the VVE, and now the HPT3.0. It looks like its going to be great.
Thanks for the Help threads, Ive used all that apply to me!!!
k, make sure you are changing both the "open" and "closed" VVE tables.. when the virtual VE editor was first introduced a lot of people were changing the wrong one. I can never remember which is which so just make them the same
OK, ya got me...I did not know about (open) or (closed) VVE tables. How do I tell the difference? Ive been making changes, then click the coefficients button, then I look for the 3d graph to change accordingly.
Is there a tutorial explaining how to work the VVE table embedded in HPT?
Would that be (manifold switch open\ manifold switch closed) options?

Basically just copy the entire "corrected" VVE table, change the drop down box on the left to manifold switch open, paste the VVE table in and hit calculate coefficients again and you're done. Only one of the two is actually used on a lot of vehicles, but it seems that the one that comes up by default is the one that isn't used on a lot of vehicles.

thank you for this
Thanks for the info, I will try that when I get back home...
Thanks again, i copied my changes to all (4) of the VVE tables, now the tune is responding.
Next, how do I keep the fuel trims from pulling fuel from the hi load into boosted area? (85-120KPA).

JMsquared, thank you for asking these questions. I'm working on a 2.4 LE5 with a K04 Turbo off an LNF and I've learned a lot just from this discussion. I would like more information on your last, unanswered question as well. With my setup though I'm getting up to 170 KPA but other than that I have the same question.
Fuel trims shouldn't be doing anything once you're in open loop/PE. What are they showing up as? They can sometimes add fuel if LTFT's are positive just before going into PE, but I've never consistently seen that actually be the case.
If you can post a log we can take a look
Robotech,
I have not gotten this resolved yet, I have been absorbed in other duties at school, I will post info and a log soon.
schpenxel,
Thanks for all the help you have rendered to our cause...
I have noticed something on my logs...when I use VCM controls to switch off 'closed loop" it resets my "commanded fueling" to .956 lambda. Can you point me in the right direction?
I'd have to see a log/tune but it's probably the open loop IVT tables not quite being 1 in the area you're in

i believe you are right...I have changed the GAS gains but I did not touch the IVT gains. having trouble posting tunes and logs.
I am unable to find the info to post the tunes or logs...L love this new tech...but I struggle with the PC navigation. Is there instructions to post Tunes/logs?

Don't make the entire table 1 or whatever, leave the colder sections alone. Just the normal areas you'd be in once you're warmed up that are just barely off from 1, make those 1

Look at previous post...I edited the wrong one!
Basically go to "go advanced" then there's an option somewhere on the page for manage attachments. You can add it in there. I do not love the way uploading is setup on this forum either.. but once you do it once it isn't too bad

Ok, here is my latest tune, and log.
I have been ignoring my WB because of the Open loop issue with Commanded AFR mentioned previously.
Been using STFT to adjust the VVE surface.
Schpenxel, thanks for the lead on posting the logs and tunes.

Mowton, Could you elaborate... I thought that shutting down "Closed loop" with the VCM scanner controls would command stoich, so I was dismayed to see .956 was being commanded.
There are IVT and other multiplier tables that are factored in, so those are likely commanding slightly richer in open loop.
Fuel-->open & closed loop. Gas (gear) and IVT Gain Gas are probably making it richer. Check out all the tables in those two sections. It's not uncommon to change the commanded to "1" in the sections you would be in once warmed up. Do not change the whole table to 1 or you could have cold starting issues.
You need to use "EQ Ratio Error" NOT AFR ERROR. Since you're logging in lambda then you have to use this one instead. AFR error only works if you're logging in AFR.
Whether it's commanding 13.72 or 14.7 really doesn't matter. The point is what is the difference between what's being commanded and what's actually happening.. EQ Ratio error will tell you that regardless.
