Windows XP installation won't start
I have an old laptop running Windows XP that I use at the track. I tried to run the latest RaceRender 3 installation program but it would die. I know, very old Windows version but shouldn't the setup program at least install RR?

I'm not sure why the installer would fail on XP, because that had worked well in the past, so it may be specific to that system. In either case, XP SP3 should technically still work for RaceRender (with limited capabilities in some areas), but it's as-is and is not recommended due to its age and having been officially sunset by Microsoft last year. Windows 7 is the lowest version of Windows that is used for RaceRender's testing or development, which is its current advertised minimum requirement. Support for XP and Vista was left intact for the time being, but it's conceivable that future updates (either by us, or in the development tools we use) may permanently break things for XP and/or Vista, or there may already be issues that we're not aware of. In those cases, you might have more luck using an older version of RaceRender from here: http://RaceRender.com/RR3/archive/
To get around the installer issue you are experiencing here, you'd most likely want to just bypass the installer by downloading the manual install package from here: http://RaceRender.com/RR3/RaceRender340.zip
Be sure to see the included _READ ME.txt file for instructions on how to set it up on your system.

I installed RaceRender manually and it's working fine so far on my old Windows XP.
