Cammed car Idle tune with lean condition (Open loop at idle?)

    Hello

I have installed a mild cam on my Camaro ss 2017 and my AFR gauge shows lean around 15.5 at idle and the low rev.
I understand it is due to the overlap of cam.

    1. Someone advised If Openloop at idle and adjust it, it is going to be the better.
However, I can't find the way going OL at idle. How can I mod it?

    2. Smelly exhaust gas.
I think the main reason is Highflow cat, but I think also the overlap is claimed even AFR shows lean condition.
Can I reduce the stinky smell at idle by adjusting injection timing like SOI? I assume the gasoline vaporized and intake air are exiting through the exhaust valves at idle during the overlap.

    1. you can set PE enable criterias to 0 and set PE lambda to 1 at idle RPMs but you shouldn't need to do this, it is old school. proper tuning of the MAF and VE is important.

    2. yes.

    Thank you, Higgs

    1. In my opinion, even if I do proper tune for MAF and VE, AFR shows lean condition due to the "bypass" intake air during the overlap , the O2 sensor will detect it and let ECU - injector shoot the more fuel.
Am I right? Could you advise how I adjust it?

    2. Is it EOI or SOI? My SOI at idle is around 310* . Do I better mod it around 290*?

    Thank you,

    adjust your O2 delay criteria

SOI, yes you want smaller numbers to move the injection away from EVC, which happens later now with your cam.

    Thank you again,

Do you mean "Closed Loop Mode vs. Airflow"?

Ok. I will try mod SOI.

You can do open loop.. but gen 4 and gen 5 operates so quick even big cans I can do closed loop..

Get fuel right is about half the equation... then have to get TQ right... have to get fuel right first though
