I just started tuning a '98 trans am the other day. Can anyone point out what you do to keep the transmission from shifting full pressure after you fail the maf?

Did you do the custom Operating system?

No I did not. So far I've dialed in the idle. It's a mild cam car. I'm used to the 01-02 ecm's. Went to start VE tuning and once I failed the MAF I thought the transmission was going to jump out of the car
That's very odd. I've tuned quite a few 98 models and never had that issue. In fact, I just tuned two last Saturday. One was an SD tune, and no problem with the transmission shifting hard.
Make sure you fail MAF correctly.. if you don’t the ECU thinks there is a problem and makes trans shift at 90psi

Set all 3 to disable
That makes sense with the disable. I failed it by setting the fail hz to 0.
Post up your tune.
this is the tune in its current state. from the shifting issue with the maf disabled I switched to tuning the MAF table after I stabilized his idle. I switched the low octane table back to stock and made his PE rich while he has the car. he needs a stronger fuel pump and injectors so I've stopped making adjustments at this point. I got his trims *better* for now until he replaces things and I can get more time with it. he installed a cam and its specs are
lift .560/.560 duration .050:216/220 with a 114 LSA.
if you see anything wrong with the few adjustments ive made so far with the idle or any advice let me know. I like constructive criticism lol thanks in advance
maf isn't failed properly, set all 3 to error on first
Currently I have it in MAF only because I've cleaned that table up some and it trims far better. I haven't focused on the VE yet from the high pressure shifts. But now that it was brought up to disable the trans codes I'll definitely apply that and head back to the VE table.
