    2014 vs 2016+ L83 ECM/Engine compatibility

    Hi All,

I?ve recently purchased an L83/6L80e out of a Silverado truck. It has the harness but no PCM or gas pedal. Without knowing the donor VIN/year, I?ve bought a 2014-2015 E92 ECM and unlocked it with HPT. I was able to start the engine with starting fluid at the beggining and then the engine ran itself but had no throttle body response.

Working on the stand alone harness (using the stock one), I?ve found that this engine is a late L83 from 2018-2019 based on the ECM connectors pinout. My main questions are the following:

    1. Can the early E92 be programmed with a stock 2018-2019 L83 calibration?
    2. Are the E92 and E92a interchangeable? can I swap the different pins on the harness main connectors?
    3. I?ve no output VSS or RPM, where can I get this signals for the dash?

    Thanks in advance.

The 2015 E92 will work. You'll need to swap to the early style fuel rail pressure sensor for it to work.

Thanks for your answer. From I?ve found on the pinouts of the 2014 and 2018 related to the fuel rail pressure sensor:

    2014 E92
    Connector - Pin - Color - Description
X2 3 BK/L-GN Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Low Reference
X2 18 BN/RD Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor 5 Volt Reference
X2 19 D-BU/WH Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Signal
    X3 3 BN/YE Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor 2 Signal

    2018 E92
X1 41 BU/WH Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Signal
X2 3 BK/GN Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Low Reference
    X2 18 BN/RD Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor 5V Reference

It looks like the 2014 has 2 sensor signals instead of 1 on the 2018+ and also the signal pins are different between the 2. Since the engine I have is a 2019, how can I solve this pins mismatch?

Also, what about speed and RPM outputs?

Just purchase an early model pressure sensor and wire it using the 2014 schematic.

The speed and rpm outputs are sent via CAN.
