Ford Permanent Codes P0141 P0161 (2012 F-150 3.5)

I'm coming from a GM background but I'm trying to help this guy.

2012 F-150 3.5. The codes P0141 and P0161 (both heater circuit) are set to "No error reported" but the codes still show up with the bracket (permanent) when the DTCs are scanned. No other codes show up.

Now I suggested he could either keep them plugged in or just cut them off and "complete the circuit".

Any suggestions?

Permanent codes won't clear until the problem is fixed, *with* the DTC still turned on.
So you'll have to have them connected until the permanent code has transitioned to a history code, then you can turn off the DTC+heaters and disconnect the sensors.
