E38 "Speed Density Air Mode" os applied: did nothing after Write entire

    Hi,

I'm running an E38 ECM on a 2014 camaro SS, LS3 6 spd manual. I can not get it to give me the three VE tables I'm supposed to get with the OS change, and I still have to make changes to the VVE from the edit dropdown. The only thing that changed was my "Main Operating System" CVN (not ID) changed from 0F74 to E489.

I thought I followed the correct procedure as follows:

-Open a tune without the "speed density air mode" applied
    -Click on OS
-click the dropdown next to "speed density air mode" and click "applied"
    -Make no other changes
-Save as, then give a unique file name, hit OK.
    -Close the file
    -Open the file
-Flash vehicle using the write entire option, takes 6 mins.
-Key off, open door, close door, key on, Read entire.

At this point the Read file should have the new VE tables that are populated with zeros that I must fill out, but I don't.

Anybody know how to get these VE tables on the gen 4 platform on the 5th gen camaro? Or are we stuck with VVE?

Edit: attached my current tune file. Sorry for not attaching it.

    Thanks!!

Where. Is. This. Tune. File. That. You. Have. Questions. About.

This goes a lot faster with a tune file to look at. Nobody can see what you see without the file(s), nobody can spot and then point out what you may be overlooking. If you'd been reading and researching you would have run across countless other threads where people asked some specific question without adding their files and got yelled at about it.

Speed Density Air Mode enabled/disabled is not the same thing at all as a speed density custom OS. There is no SD OS available for your year.

Why do you think you need that, anyway? What are you trying to do?

Thank you for the quick reply! I am trying to run about 10 pct lean during part load cruising (1400 - 2000 rpm), but I am having a hell of a time smoothing this area out, after the coefficients have been calculated. I am having some success, as I am having no problems running open loop with the MAF failed.

Also, I am worried that the VVE table maxes out at 6400 rpm. Is there a way in increase the RPM limit on the VVE table? Also, what does the SPeed Density Air Mode enabled/disabled do? Doesn't seem to change anything as far as I can tell.

    thanks!

I am running a wideband O2 sensor logging right into HP tuners so I can spot any issues immediately. It is working quite well, even with the spoiler and BTR Red Hot cam I get about 24 mpg cruising, no lumpiness. I just wish I had more flexibility with the VVE table.

Wondering where you found out the info that the OS isnt available for my model year? You know of any more threads or information on this? Also any more information on the Speed Density Air Mode enabled/disabled?

Lots of questions but I appreciate it!

I just double checked the tune you had posted and it in fact shows me 7000rpm. I think it may be user specific?? idk.. BUT you can click on where it says Engine Speed and select for it to show 7000rpm.

Awesome, after hours of messing with it, it didn't dawn on me to simply click on the axis titles. Thanks LS Rob. This is essential information on how to use the VVE editor tool. I don't think this info is available anywhere on the official HP tuners website. Clicking on the underlined axis titles lets you infinitely customize the size and resolution of the axis, thereby negating the requirement of a special 2 BAR OS. You can even have uneven break points, go up to 5 bar ect. The only draw back is that you still have to mess with calculating the coefficients and zones, so smoothing out the table will still take lots of time. I have attached screenshots for those following this thread.

Still one question though, if hp tuners added this increased functionality VVE editor, why does it still have "Speed Density Air Mode" on the OS section? Does it do anything?

Both axis are editable. Click on "engine speed" up at the top (your X axis) and this is what you'll see. Clicking on MAP on the left will allow you to edit that axis.
