    5.3 turbo startup tune

Hello all ! I just wanted to get some feed back on a tune i have been working on for this 5.3 with a gt45 i am putting in a 69 GM c20. I wont actually be firing up the motor for a while yet so i don't have any log files so this is very much just a starting point . I have SD60 injectors and a truck Norris cam installed , everything else is just a fairly stock rebuild. Thanks in advance.

    Wrong data.

You should be running a vacuum-referenced reg.

I recommend a TMAP so that you can measure IAT in the manifold and disable the complex temp model.

Thanks for the heads up , I will put in new data for the injectors. Is that sensor fairly plug an play?

It is if you wire in the associated pigtail then set the IAT and MAP cal in the tune.

I made some changes , i think it should be correct now but it does not seem to want to copy the data straight over with out tweeking it slightly . Thanks again and appreciate the help.

Vacuum reg or non? TMAP or still the same?

Here are some idle, ve, fuel, spark changes to make this a safer and better start.

Yeah but tune is still IFR for vacuum-ref and Offset for non-. That has to be fixed. Waiting on a response from OP.

Definitely need the injector data correct. Probably double check the map data amongst other things involved in the airflow model.

I am using the stock LM7 rails and regulator and i will probably get the TMAP you suggested . I am still unsure how to come up with the correct offset using the vacuum referenced return style system.

Copy the "0 kPa VAC" column from the datasheet's Offset table. Paste into every column in the tune file's Offset table.

When you say it like that it makes a lot of sense ! I think this should be ok now 1969 gmc 2bar 5.3(3)With injector data-update edit 2.hpt

Set Proportional and Integral Adaptive Idle to 60/15. Spark should be doing idle control in tight since it's more reactive. What you have might cause idle hunting. Do a better job of blending the transition between idle and main spark. Look at EGR spark, too.

You really didn't do much other than zero out EGR spark. Another thing to add is Trans Diag>Max Line Pressure DTC>P0101-P0103 to disabled so that full line pressure isn't commanded for SD.

I did that since the EGR is deleted and bumped up the idle timing to match up with the main timing table . The engine will be mated up with a manual transmission so line pressure wont be an issue but i can set those to disabled anyhow.

Probably should leave the idle timing where it was and work on the main spark. Personally, i leave the main spark 6ish* more than the idle table to give a bump in torque on takeoff. It can give a rough return to idle but id think 5* or less difference should not be too noticeable. In all reality you should not have more than 5* difference cell to cell in the main spark especially in a manual. Definitely work on the spark table and get it smooth and realistic for the engine.
