See how this does.
See how this does.
Ran it to Zanesville (about a 25 mile interstate trip)...Ran good, here's what i noticed.
1. Go to pass someone on the interstate at 75mph, apply some throttle but not enough to kick it down. It almost has a dead spot/hesitation/and a very slight change in exhaust tone. "Almost" like if you have ever heard the cylinder deactivation with a set of loud pipes. Its not missing, just kind of doesn't really accelerate. Then with a little more throttle it takes off.
2. Pulling timing under moderate acceleration. I think some better gas will help that. Unfortunately, it has a tank full of 87 right now. Well not a tank anymore. We burned about a quarter of a tank on this 50 mile trip. Still stinks at idle, but fuel trims look good (to me).
I am gonna run it more, burn some gas so I can get some good stuff in it. I also need to get the trans to kickdownn a little better from OD to D, it seems like you really have to give it alot of throttle, almost really lugging it. We will be going through the mountains tomarrow, and I don't want it kicking down constantly, but at the same time I don't want it lugging along getting terrible mileage trying to keep vehicle speed up.
Everything still looking safe?

Is this knock/timing reduction real?
that's alot of red

Yes that's KR, and it's why you had a dead spot on acceleration. It's setup for premium. If you wanted to run 87 then that's fine. Most people who do cam do full time premium, so it's assumed.
Of course, I can restore the High and Low tables so that you can run both. Would you like to do that? I typically restore High and Low as a final step, and the tune isn't done yet.
Wow so I could have 2 different ?modes?? How would I switch back and forth? A reflash? Or you dont switch, you just baby it when running low octane?
Forgive the elementary questions, i am used to the older diesel world where you could have 2,4,6 position switches.
The limited research I found showed two different operating systems would be needed to run a ?normal and a performance? tune on these. Thats incorrect? What do I need to add on?
Going now to get some high octane in it?And thank you again for all the help!
It's in SD right now so that VE can be tuned. It only pays attention to the Low Octane table unless the SD custom OS is loaded. That's why it's setup for premium gas right now. After VE is done I can do MAF if you want and you can have your tables back like factory. Or you can run full time SD and have both back with the OS.
Are you sure there are no vacuum leaks?
That was my first thinking was a vacuum leak. I hit the intake/throttle body with some brake clean, no change in anything. Good connection with MAF and intake pipe. I dont hear anything out of the ordinary.
The headers have a very slight ?ping? noise you can just barely hear.
I am going to recheck again early tomarrow morning early for a vacuum leak, just to be 💯. There are some aspects of it that make me think that as well. The hanging throttle when you just rev it in park, the higher rpm when you let off the throttle and it just kinda stays at 1600 or so while coasting - 30mph and up (until the throttle cracker takes over and drops it).
I put 7 gallons of 93 mixed in with the rest of 87. I know thats not super helpful, but we are leaving tomarrow morning about 7am for NC, so i will continue to top off with high test. Im gonna have my lady do some logs as we are on the road and get them posted.
Thank you!
Brake cleaner won't work since the O2's are keeping it stoichiometric. It's not running lean. If there is a vacuum leak then fuel is automatically being added. Could explain the bank-bank imbalance. Something like that would be an intake gasket.
Doing intake gaskets right now just to be sure
intake gaskets done, cold start got to the interstate a little around 70 mph. As of right now we've gone about 50 miles, running good down the interstate but using a lot of fuel.

I'm sure it is. 110lsa cam, bigger tires, and a 2500 series truck.

Here,s some thru the mountains, 77 south. Seemed like it was pulling a lot of timing in the mountains, i could def feel it.

Well yeah you still have all that 87 in there. Here. SD custom OS applied. Low Octane and High Octane will be scaled now. VE changes applied. No point in beating on it. You can get back to tuning later.
You have to Write Entire this file.

Well we made it!
Tank should be all high test by now. We filled up 2.5 times.
I ended up just slow down a bit then manually pulling it into D when it would start with the knock retard. RPM would come up and knock stops.
For this last ?write entire? it comes up Brickable. I dont have access to a battery charger here, so I was planning on using a good set (2gauge) jumper cables from his car to the truck just to make sure voltage stays up. Not ideal, and to be honest im a bit nervous about it, but i am leaning on your help ALOT, so im gonna give it a go!
Thank you so much!
Brickable for a certain module? Screenshot plz.
I wanted to make sure TCM wasn't in there.
