Since you didn't say you had, did you check the HPT tune repository?

If you have access to the truck, just plug in to it, and do a read. HPTuners will give you the correct stock file.

It's a "virtual read". Hp downloads the file from their server. You'll need to be connected to Wifi.

I was able to download the base map. I do have EFI Live maps in the truck, but they suck. If I create a map with just a little more torque requests and vanes, can I flash over EFI, or do I need to unmarry the EFI first? I appreciate any help you can provide.

You should be able to flash the truck with HP. Do a "write entire" to make sure you completely overwrite the existing tune.

2015 LML looking to tune it myself. My go to tuner and close friend recently passed away unexpectedly. New to doing my own tunes but not stupid. Made some tweaks to some tunes in the past with good results. Anyone have a couple of good starter tunes for mild power gains and economy(separate tunes I assume). I?d like to explore both avenues but not looking for anything crazy. I like the stock trans in tact

I hear you A lot of the tuners trying giving stock trucks the beans then wonder why customers are un happy when things go wrong. Personally the calibration should always reflect what's been done to the truck. If the customer request something that may harm his or her vehicle you should always advise them against it and help give them something that will compromise there wants and but still be fun at the same time. Look these trucks are built for work plain and simple. Yes you can make them crazy powerful / a race truck but that's more of a no cab long bed with a built motor and supporting modifications. Some times being realistic save money long term and gives your customers exactly what they were looking for a truck that can boogie but still lay down 24 to 28 mpg on the hwy. If you want to reach out there are some very smart guys on the forum as well as me who can assist you in your tuning adventure. It takes time, logging, annd small changes to make a calibration perform as well as withstand the test of time. The older Duramax trucks are aggressively detuned due to their wanting to see how they would perform over the years fast forward to 2025 and now trucks are leaving the factory with 1000 + lbft of tq its amazing how far the automotive industry has come especially from a OEM point of view.
