Good morning to all the HPT form members I'm happy to inform you that the BMW M57 6R80 swap is possible using your factory Ford PCM for transmission control. On top of that you can also integrate your OEM sensors to receive live data from the M57 DSL engine this includes anything from MAP sensors, temp sensors, wide bands, and more. Back in December I help a forum member go after this without using a Quick 6 control this allowed the member to keep all his factory F150 info being relayed to his IPC as far as engine speed, wheel speed, temps, and gear / mode selections. In the beginning it was a bit of a obstacle getting the Eco Boost PCM to play nice with a diesel engine, this took many hours of logging data, Unlocking parameters not supported by calibration originally and tons of testing. The truck has now been driving for 6 months with no mechanical issues and we are always improving what we built on. The customer seems pleased with the results and from what I see the truck keeps getting closer ad closer to a near OEM like engine swap. On top of that the transmission is a completely stock 6R80 from a 3.5L Eco Boost you could also use a 3.7L transmission due to the 2 sharing the same bell housing utilizing his Billet adapter plate design. I do believe he is the first to accomplish this swap in a F-150 platform and I'd love to help others out who are thinking of going this same route in there F150, Expedition, Mustangs, or late model Explorers / Rangers. The M57 is a well built motor with amazing torque and a good power band range especially in a diesel application. The factory hard parts of the engine are extremely durable and able to withstand a good bit of power.
With his application he utilized a M57 306D1 DDE4 ECU with a manual strategy then got a crank signal as well as wired the recommended sensors to both the stock PCM and M57 ECU from there I started to work some magic and got the vehicle to display a proper crank (RPM) signal to the Ford PCM then from there we logged and started change the factory PCM data to best suit the M57 engine. If anyone is thinking of making this idea a reality contact me for more info and I'd be happy to assist. Also other applications such as GM or Dodge vehicles are a option but this will take some adjusting to get everything to behave accordingly.
Attached is a recent log from the truck hope to have some more new logs here shortly.
