    How smooth should VVE table be?

    Hi everyone, I've been learning to tune my 09 corvette LS3. I got the MAF dialed in, and I'm working on the VVE. I'm using ltft+stft for part throttle, and a WB for PE. After 2 attempts my fuel trims are for the most part looking pretty good, but I've created some peaks and valleys in the VVE table. And the fuel trims that are still off a bit are telling me to make the peaks a little higher and the valleys a little lower. I also noticed that the ridges coincide with zone edges.
    So I guess my question is, should I carry on with what I've been doing and just look at the resulting fuel trims, or should I be more concerned about the smoothness of my graph? Here's my most recent tune and log. Thanks

    I'd give the car what it wants...your VVE table doesn't look bad at all compared to some others I've seen...lol

    I looked at what he posted unless the tune was replaced with the post edit, but the one posted looked really close to stock. If Ed's photo was prior to that just keep in mind hpt's tool like's to "screw" things up from time to time or regularly with newer stuff. When that happens just interpolate through those bad areas then load and start on the next log. You'll also want to let it run for about 20 minutes before taking any data for any sort of fuel corrections as there are several temp and air calculations that need to re-orient themselves back to home base in order to get good data

    That VVE shape is smooth enough. Is the scanner showing your MAF is failed?

    The pic Ed posted is not mine. My tune is very close to stock, only mod is headers. There's parts of the table I haven't changed yet, I'm really just focusing on up to 3200rpm for now. The ridges I'm seeing are at 1800 and 2500 rpm, at lower loads, with valleys in between. They're not terrible, but definitely not as smooth as stock. I drive 15-20 min before starting to log, I also reset my ltft. Most of my data is from setting my cruise on the highway at each rpm point in a hilly area. I have the cell count set to 100 for fuel trims histogram, and 20 for my pe histogram
    My CEL is on, I haven't confirmed the code, but it wasn't on before, so I assumed it's because I failed the maf.
    I was also thinking about tuning via WB to get hard to reach spots after I get what I can at steady state. What's your thoughts on that?

    Ahhh, so Ed was showing what not to do As long as you don't have a cam download Cringer's latest VVE assistant and use the trims and wideband both combined for everything. This is also granted you're using a good wideband and it's reading correctly. I just did this to a customers procharged car and basically averaged together 6 different tables into one for fuel corrections. I think Cringer's tool is up to something like version 1.7 now with some nice updates worked into it. I don't know if you had a manual or not, but if you do go find a city and drive in some stop and go traffic for about 30 or so minutes. That'll get you some good data.

    I tried downloading cringers vve assist, but it was very slow on my old laptop. If I end up having to piece together multiple graphs I'll try tranferring everything over to my desktop and doing it there. I have a fairly new aem 30-0300 WB. 30 min of city driving, can't be worth it, lol. But there is a big subdivision near me, maybe I'll drive around that for a while. Thanks for the help

    I'm currently working on the next update and I have improved the performance. It behaves much nicer now. The final work is taking longer than I thought but this will be a major update overall to the tool.

    The old took worked great, Ill have to see the update. Have you ever went down the rpm/map breakpoint path. I tried the BlueCat VVE awhile ago and it didnt adjust he breakpoints very well. I know by rights the breakpoints have to be determined simultaneously while regressing the coefficients. Now doing that is another thing lol.

    V2 of the tool will allow more flexibility with breakpoints. Not sure how well/if I will ever have the tool test and suggest different breakpoints though.
