    Lightbulb 4L60E Tune for Passing

I have come to the realization that I will never be a tuner. The hardware I can do, cam swaps, dod/afm delete, exhaust and backyard engine rebuilds. The software and all involved with that doesn't click in my brain. But I still mess with it because I don't want to pay for it. I come here looking for assistance.

    1999 Chevrolet Silverado LS 4.8/4l60e 3:42 gears 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive ECSB 213,xxx miles EDIT: 245/70/17
This has always happened to my truck when trying to pass. When I am at speed 4th gear, any speed, I try to pass and it doesn't accelarate it falls flat on its face. Sometime before I pass I tap the brakes and I guess that gets it out of lockup and I can accelerate easily. My other option is to floor it but it also has a small delay. Here is what I want to do. I looked in VCM Editor under the transmission and want to change these things. Is there any changes recommended. I saw torque management but being a 4l60e that is iffy. Maybe remove some of it. I just want to give it gas and accelerate. Not racing it or driving all out. Just a daily driver and stay away from other drivers. Thanks for your help.

4.8L will need atleast a 4-3 downshift to accelerate much at all. Download BluCats and mess with it to get a better shift table.

Stock File P0404 and P0405 Delete (no trans changes)

The truck has the stock tune. The only thing I have done was egr delete. I am downloading bluecat right now and going to try it out. I figured as much on the 4.8 power, and that the 5.3 or 6.0 have power to overcome the lack of acceleration. But plans have been in the works for several years for a 5.3 or a 6.0. 5.3 more than likely and a low to mid cam. No racing just a daily driver. Maybe a slightly smaller torque converter, 2000-2200. Or am I dreaming? Thanks for the info on bluecat.

You want it to downshift sooner from 4th to 3rd so it can accelerate?

    Maybe the 2006 PPV tune can help. 2006 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L_4l60e 2WDPPV Mileage E85 87 93 octane tune.hpt
(As far as copying shift schedule, do not write entire file, different OS)

Got the file from ewalts tuning... https://www.ewaltsautotuning.com/stocktuned

Show us the .HPT and .HPL of the issue.

Falling flat on it's face could be/mean many things. Before I/we speculate we really should see the files.

Downshift or get out of lockout. I thought that maybe there was a built in delay, like the pedal has, of a few seconds and a certain percentage before it would accelerate.

Well maybe my wording was wrong. It basically stays at the same rpm when I give it gas to pass, unless I floor it or tap the brakes. Then it goes and pulls decently. At the risk of sounding ignorant, what is .HPT and .HPL? Thanks for your help and responses. The true fix maybe a 5.3 or 6.0 with a Truck Norris.

    HPT is the tune file
    HPL is a datalog

See if this shifts any better for you. Also try tow/haul and see if its better or worse.

I forgot to tell you about this. When merging onto the highway I use the tow/haul. I may try it when passing or accelerating. I will look into thses suggestions, thanks. One at a time.
