    Vcm editor issues

Good day. Trying to read my tune from the vehicle and noticed that its taking longer that usual and after the read, vcm editor wont open it and the files are smaller than the rest. 525kb while all the rest are 623kb and above. Ive tried 5 times and all the same, any help? And yes i submitted a ticket but that usualy takes days to get a response, does anyone here had this issue and could possibly shed some light on this issue? Thanks in advance!

Is this compared to reading the same vehicle multiple times or different vehicles?

The same vehicle. When I try to read the tune in the PCM,TCM it’s slower than normal and once it finishes I assign it a name and save it. Now after saving and try to open and read what was saved, VCM EDITOR never opens it but I can open previous tunes for the same vehicle. Next u looked at the file size and saw that the ones that won’t open are smaller than all the rest.

Yes usually In a day or 2, I was just asking if this one could be a little sooner as I need to change a few things before I go to work, that’s all.

Without knowing the vehicle, why are you reading the vehicle again? Maybe this is required on some,!but not on the vehicles I know something about. Read once and just write until you get it where it needs to be.

the tune that is in the PCM and the scanner are not matching so i wanted to read whats is actually flashed. so we are not supposed to read the tune once its installed, does that causes problems with the tune?

I think you really need to back up and study how this works a little bit. The scanner has to match what is in the ECM as least as much as that statement can mean. The scanner is telling you how the car is running based upon the tune in the ECM. Normally you read it once and then make iterative changes to that file. No reason to read it again for every change. The only reason to read it again is if you get confused about which file is actually in the ECM. And when you write you should typically use “write calibration” if available unless you know of a reason to write entire.

But it doesn’t hurt anything to read it again as far as I know. I don’t think it’s supposed to be possible to hurt anything on a read. But I don’t know if that is true on all ECMs. But some vehicles are known to be hard to get good reads on. You really should be posting this stuff under the appropriate sub-forum so the people that are experienced with your particular vehicle are more likely to weigh in. And even then you should always say what you are working on.

ok cool, thanks for the info but where shouldve posted this? im having issues reading the ECM or TCM, where else other than FORUM, VCM SUITE, VCM SUITE SUPPORT, VCM EDITOR, VCM? not being a pain but i thought this would be the place to post a issue i have with VCM EDITOR, where shouldve i posted this so i can stop getting on people's nerves for my posts? and yes i was questioning which tune i put in because of what i saw in the scanner while driving. happy holidays to all HPtuners and affiliated. my christmas present was to get the car running like it should.

Each manufacturer and generation within can have its own peculiar glitches in how they read, write and scan. Some of the early 2000’s GM trucks have to radio fuse pulled as a first step to read/write. And some of these can only be done with a bench harness. A lot of the people that know this type information don’t seem to spend much time on the generic sub forums.

I appreciate you explaining how a tune is supposed to be written and adjusted, so write calibrations will only write over whatever area has been change rather than rewriting the whole and just the new? Well I’ll be rewriting this vehicle a few more times. Haven’t gotten the motor dialed in nor the transmission. I will take your advice and only rewrite calibrations.happy holidays.

It was in spam, any ideas of why this keeps happening? All emails would be delivered in its proper place but lately as we’ve seen it’s going to spam. If any ideas, I’m all ears.

Have you checked your spam settings to see if you can allow email from certain addresses or domains? Seemingly random grabs of particular emails just seem to happen with spam filters. And always check spam/junk/other folders before complaining about not receiving response emails. Just part of modern life.

you are correct but ive never had an issue with emails going to spam till now with hptuners, and not saying its a hptuner problem, just havent experienced this to think to look in that folder. yes hptuner support reply was there as they said! all i was doing was trying to get help and explaining to them that i wasnt getting them but it was taken the wrong way and i was banned for misunderstanding and for a post that wasnt from me but still banned for a day. now i know that replies from hptuners needs to be checked in spam as well. i foresee no more issues with support now knowing the issue of not receiving their replies, well at least i hope support feels the same and change their views on me.
