Both sides are now good... I had only had the issue with the one side. Tomorrow I will try to get the fuel pressure tested and a road trip to get gas which I will record. Thanks for your patience! Besides work, there was a hospital stay, blood clots, covid, AND other car stuff like swapping a transmission and rear diff in my kid's car etc. Again, thanks!

Edit: I forgot we were going the Flyers game today after work... They lost, but it was a really good game! Test drive and Fuel pressure test results on Wednesday 1/8.

Ok, just a quick update... The snap-on fuel pressure tester set I had only has the metric stuff, so it doesn't seem to work with my Vortec 7400. I ordered new set (maybe the adapters will fit my snap-on, maybe they won't... either way I ordered a full kit) which should be here today (01/11/2025, wait, it's 2025 already??? WTF???). Also, I will be filling up the tank and hopefully getting a good log file. Remember I was a Mitsubishi, Toyota tech like 30 years ago so most of my stuff is metric! LOL.

Ran out for gas. I forgot how much noise this thing made. Fuel pressure test kit came, but I am exhausted and will do that tomorrow. This log is from pretty cold, then to the gas station, idling at the pump, and then back home. Oil pressure at the lowest at idle was about 35-38 lbs. jumping to 55-60 off idle. I THINK that is pretty good, no? BTW, I saw some knock retard as well. I think/hope the fresh fuel will help as that gas that was in there when I ran to the station was about a year and a half old I believe.

I had set the lifter preload at 1/2 turn after the pushrods had spin resistance and zero lash. Any recommendations as far as that goes? There doesn't seem to be that valve tap like before, but more like a sewing machine sound.

Also, I just remembered that I think I was supposed to clear the trim values before running the log? I forgot that. Does this make the log useless? Or can it just be taken into account when reviewing it?

Everything sounds fine other than the remaining question about fuel pressure.

Cool. I got the kit, but the adapter doesn't seem to push the schrader valve plunger (or not enough anyway) to get a reading. It is pretty darn cold, so I am going to go out tomorrow during lunch to remove the schrader valve and put the adapter on that way (the quick connect on the other side of the adapter has one as well, so I don't expect fuel to go everywhere). SHOULD be able to report back around 1-2PM EST tomorrow on the Fuel pressure.... Remember I did upgrade the injectors to F.A.S.T. 36lb injectors... Maybe I put the wrong flow spec in? That is one of the values I tried on my own before bringing this mess here!

Loaded 14, cleared fuel trims and will try to go on a trip tomorrow.. Don't know if this question will be answered before I go, but.. Should I record full cold start, warm up and drive, or just after warm drive?
I will record everything in one batch unless told to do something different. Thanks! Chris, good luck with your tune. I will try to read up on the history. GT

When in doubt, record everything. You can filter out data you don't need. You can't add back data that never recorded. The only catch to that idea is that you can't record too many separate channels at once, or it slows them all down too much.

Really. Be mindful of KR. Keep a backup tune for the spark map in case it's out of hand. I don't think it'll be a problem, but it's possible.

Plus idk about doing trips on a freshly rebuilt engine that's also being tuned. Need to do a proper break-in then oil change. Would prefer a good log before giving the greenlight.

Ah, yes "trip". At this point I consider running up to the local convenience store a "trip". Yes, I wouldn't try to drive this anywhere of importance yet! But good observation. I will grab the whole thing from startup back to the driveway. Most of the logs I recorded are "trips" in my opinion so far. I did a couple of higher throttle bursts to help the rings, but I have maybe 5 miles on it and plan to do an oil change before I hit 10 miles. Thanks for all the info all.

Delayed due to snow (4" of the good stuff!), car batteries dying 9 degree temps and work again... sigh...

Ok, finally back on track. Here is the run on tune 14. From cold, ran around the big block hit 202 for some 45-50MPH stretches with a couple of 50-60% throttle bursts to help seat the rings. I will be changing the oil shortly here and hope I don't see the dreaded forbidden glitter... I expect a little as these are all new components, cam bearings, crank bearings, rod bearings, rings, pistons, oil pump, etc. I did see some knock retard coming on. Both knock sensors are new as of first build and they are connected.

I hit probably 10 or so 50-60% throttle bursts I am thinking the rings should be where they're gonna be by now? Any input on this assumption? I can worry more about overall driving after I change the oil if that seems right?

    Have you heard it knocking?
    How does it drive?
Looks to me like the tune is pretty close. Needs a little fine tuning, but I suspect it probably feels decent.

I hear the roller rockers and the exhaust, not so much any knocking if you mean the rattling dish noises of old car sounds?
Feels really good, but I haven't legged it out yet either.
