You would need a pcm from a 09-10 f150 or expedition navigator. But If you have access to a 11-14 you can use a copper head or stand alone quick 6 inline with the pcm. The trans has a mechitronic unit on the 09-10 6r80 and differs from the 11-14 on the valve body. The 09-10 6r80 uses HS can to operate the tcm and data is sent to pcm. The 11-14 uses pcm to control 6r80 (copperhead 2048k) You will have to move pins as well as get the 09-10 pcm or 11-14 pcm and lead frame for copperhead setup as well as pcm connectors either way. The quick 6 is great also but it has to be a gen 2 unit the unit is a lot better and parameters are also. With the 09-10 pcm you will need 2 wide band o2s and the tcm harness some are separate on the f150 and together with engine harness on the expedition I?m pretty sure. If you need help let me know have wiring diagrams it?s different from 09-10 pcm vs your 05. It?s a ton of work to be honest I have done something similar in upgrading my 6r75 08 expedition to a 14 6r80 and I?m using both a copperhead pcm and quick 6 linked together to get data to the pcm and to the standalone.

Hello, I am swapping a 6r80 into an 05 F150 4x4. I understand that I will have to change some of the pins in the tcm harness. Do you have the necessary diagrams? Thanks

If you are planning a 6r80 swap on your 05 F150 there is a little more to it than just a simple pin swap ill try to guide you on what needs to happen.

A: What year 6R are you going with 2007-2010 or 2011-2017
B: Using a 07-10 6R might be more ideal for your 05 F150 application here is why you can take a 2007-2010 Expedition, Navigator, or F150 PCM make a some changes to your original harness and make it work.
C: Using a 2011-2017 6R he is where it gets in-depth so you want full control of your 6R select shift the whole 9 yards this is gonna take a lot of changing to make happen and for most its just not worth it.
D: Drive shaft the 2009-2014 F150 should work fine the only obstacle might be the transmission mount to the frame but that should not be from what I've seen on the 05-08 F150

My advise get a TCM controlled 6R 2007-2010 and link it with your original PCM which might take some work or go simple and get a 2009-2010 F150 PCM then just grab the harness of a yard truck and the trans harness this will be really like under 10 wires that you will have to run at most.

If you need further assistance you can message me and Ill try to get you on the right path with your 6R

It seems like a lot of work but its not to bad and the truck will drive amazing vs the 4R70W

What?s the easiest way to swap the 6r80 into an 08 f150, taking an 09-10 f150 computer and engine harness would work? Is there modifications you have to make? I?m building my motor right now with H beam rods and forged pistons, gonna do a turbo setup with deleted vct plates from the v10,

You can go that route the only other thing you may want to keep in mind is you may also need a abs system from the donor truck seeing as they go hand and hand the 6R and HCU ABS module. If you have any more questions you can DM me and ill do my best to help get you on the right path.

Thank you for responding to my post. For some reason, I can?t send you a direct message. I have a 6R80 and tcm harness from an 07 Expedition. I understand the easiest way to do the swap is to use an ECU and engine harness from an 07-10. I know I need to rearrange some pins, but I don?t know if I need to swap the ABS module and transfer case. My F-150 has a BW 4406 transfer case and the 07-10 use the BW 4418. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I am looking to do this swap on a 2007 F150 wandering if I can get the information from you. Looking at getting a 07-10 6r80.

You have some options on the setup you can keep the stock PCM or you ca go with a newer controller like a 2008-11 expedition 09-10 F150 mechatronics TCM / ECU or a 2011-14 copperhead PCM (best choice). Another option is the US Shifts Quick 6 controller which you can keep your stock controller but utilize a 6R80, this is another good option with like stock drivability when set up properly and a more standalone option. I have done all 3 and my personal favorite was the newer PCM set up it takes a little more know hoe but it works out the best. If you have any other questions just let me know.

The easiest option would be to get a 2009-2011 mechatronics 6R80 (TCM board built on the lead frame) and keep your stock wiring (very small changes) /PCM and just use a proper system to control it.

Do you have information on the two options one with the 09-11 and one with the 11-14 and what all is needed for both options?
