06 5.9 stock truck tuning help

New to tuning my first truck with hp tuner. I have no previous experience with tuning other than box tunes.
truck is a completely stock 06 5.9, just wanting to learn some things with tuning as i build the truck to have good reliable power.
but for now just wanting to get knowledge to tune It my self

since owning the truck its gotten a fully built trans.

trucks plans are a FMVB from rev max, 100%m ddp injectors, 10mm cp3, s467 and other supporting mods with the truck.

If anyone has any tips and tricks for what to look at when writing my first tune that would be great. I see a lot of good things on this form can't wait to learn!

Jacob, you are welcome to reach out to me on my personal social media stuff and I can catch you up with the basics over a phone call.

This is a BIG undertaking to wrap your head around and there are countless points of optimization in these ECUs.

You may want to look into the S368SX-R w/ 0.91 A/R for keeping things single. It's been an epic turbo for a few of us and if you are doing any towing, that thing is going to be too big for your needs. Keep things smaller. We tow heavy with our S364SX-R w/ 0.8 A/R Non-wastegated and the power does NOT fall off.

Hamilton Cam + Valve Springs + Pushrods are some of the best purchases you can make for this engine.
    Motorsport Diesel CP3
    DDP Injectors
    ARP Head Studs

Considering most of run around 40psi of Boost, you'll be looking at PR 3.75 if you live at Sea Level.

Going through simple math for the compressor mapping, you'll see the following:

S467SX Surge Line at PR 3.75 is Starts us at 50lbs/min of Airflow and then carries out to 68% Efficiency (before we start pumping hot air --- note, the turbo will do significantly more than this here) at 83lbs/min. This gives us a powerband WIDTH of 33lbs/min and a total power capability of roughly 8lb/min per horsepower for a 5.9L Common Rail, or roughly 664hp worth of air before pumping out hot and inefficiently.
S368SX-R Surge Line at PR 3.75 Starts us at 48lbs/min of Airflow and then carries out to 68% Efficiency at 96lbs/min. This gives us a powerband WIDTH of 48lbs/min and a total power capability of roughly 8lb/min per horsepower for a 5.9L Common Rail, or roughly 768hp worth of air before pumping out hot and inefficiently.

You can do this for each turbo on the market, but the S467SX is a turd in a world of modern turbochargers...

Happy to help; reach out any time.
