    L5P Tune Help

I purchased a tune from a tuning company for my L5P duramax. I was sent the tune file after providing my vin and device s/n. I went to attempt to flash the tune file and it says i need 8 credits to license this tune. I have already used 8 credits when unlocking the E41 ecm with the unlock cable and flashed the stock tune provided during the process. The vin for the truck comes up in my VCM suite as licensed under my device but still cannot write this tune without additional credits. The tuning company had good customer support and attemped to help me via screen sharing and even applied 8 credits to my device in order to help me out. But after resyncing a bunch of times we couldnt get those credits to become available under my device and called it a night for now. Ive started a support ticket about the credits but any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like the tuning company you do not want to use. PM me and I can get you sorted out.

It sounds like a case of "I got a file, bro".

Did you send them your stock file? Or just your VIN and MPVI serial?
Most likely the file you were sent doesn't match your ECMs serial, and HPT is trying to license it.

Yes i provided a stock tune file, vin number as well as s/n for my device and paid a signicant amount of money for the file. I ended up getting the file flashed after the tuning company supplied me with 8 credits free of charge to get it written. The file i recieved is locked and cannot view anything or do anything other than write it. I am still trying to figure out why these 8 additional credits were necessary as i would SOL without the additional credits

Yes I did provide VIN device S/N and stock tune file. They spent 2 hours on my computer through teamviewer and couldnt figure out why it wouldnt flash. They said everything matched up and ended up just giving me 8 credits to get it done.

Because the file they provided was not written for your truck. I would also be worried that the OS doesn't match what your vehicle is supposed to have.

will a IAT code prevent tune from loading correctly? says it loaded on a L5P but with nothing added or removed message on dash show speed limited to 158? and is this because truck still sees emissions? no terminator plugs installed yet, truck starts and sounds fine

No, your tune isn't made right.

It has been confirmed that the tune supplier did not use the stock file to create the new file. Yes, they made the VIN and SN match, but that is about it. Not one single segment matches what was supposed to be in the truck.

Let this be a reminder to anyone looking for tuning: Be very careful who you choose to send money to.

There are a few reasons this could happen including if the tuner you were using built the file incorrectly. Hard to tell anything specific without seeing the files though.

If you're still looking for a tune, post your stock read and we can go from there. You just paid for a file that's not meant to be used for your truck... expect some trouble in near future.

It sounds like he got it sorted out.

But, for anyone coming across this thread in the future; Always use the file meant for the truck, and ensure the OS and segments match your stock file.
Mixing segments and file ramming very risky. You could end up with all kinds of problems or even a bricked ECM.
