Detect Protocol Failed - No communication

Went through every other thread related to this communication error but didn't find a solution.

2007 e38 pcm - HPtuners says Detect Protocol Failed.

Verified ground/voltage at dlc. Pins 6 and 14 from DLC are tapped into high/low speed bus (pins 27 and 28) from black PCM connecter, as well as ground and 12v/Ignition 12v. Verified 120 ohm resistance on the bus when jumping pins 6 and 14 at DLC with addition of a resistor at DLC. Verified ground on black PCM connector pin 13 and pins 19 /20 for 12v. Tested mp3 on different vehicle, works fine. Tried different code reader on bench harness, unable to read PCM.

Vehicle ran great before, ECM was fine. Only trying to bench connect to delete dod and load base idle tune before depinning/cleaning harness, before trying first start after cam/rebuild.

Powering PCM with 12v wall adapter at 1.5 amps and DLC with car battery. Is it safe to power the PCM straight off the car battery?

    Any other ideas?
