Transmission Replacement 2011 Chevy Cruze - Unlicensed Vehicle

I did a transmission change on a 2014 Silverado a couple months back and I swear I just read the base trans tune before pulling the stock trans and then just did a write entire to the reman trans after it was in and it was all perfect. I just tried to do the same things with my daughter?s 2011 Cruze and when I try to do the write entire it says unlicensed vehicle. I can?t seem to get to a point where I can license it and do a write entire. Did I maybe read the engine and trans last time and now only did the trans this time? Cn you modify a HPTuners read file and trick it into using the original trans tune that I read all by itself?

I took the file I had pulled and used it as a compare file and I think I might be good. The MIL went out. I need to test drive yet, but hopefully this will work.

I think the problem I'm having is due to not reading the full file with the engine and trans. I think the 2014 Silverado had a separate VIN in the trans and that allowed it to be licensed, but it seems the Cruze uses the ECM for the license side. I purchased the 2 credits, and wrote the file to the reman trans after doing the compare.

If I pulled the TCM from the original trans and was able to get a reread on it with the ECM at the same time would the credits still apply due to the VIN not changing? In other words, if I do a fresh read will that transfer the credit to that file since the VIN matches?

From the sounds of it your ecm is the only thing licensed in this particular application, so the software will not ask you for the tcm license, however the hardware/software NEEDS to see the ecm on flash so check for the ecm license in order to flash to the tcm.

There are a few applications like this, mainly T43, T42 and probably a few others where the tcm license is essentially free but there is no way to license the tcm by itself separately.
