2012 MK6 EA888 MED17.5 flash no start issues
having issues when flashing this ecm with a modified calibration it will not start and the radiator fans go to 100% and stay there while the key is on.
If I try to read modified calibration it will give me checksum errors.
Will only start if I flash back my copy of the stock calibration but I have to do a failed read first or it will say vehicle not licensed.
Weird thing is when I first tried my first modified flash it did work and i did see increased numbers like I expected so then I went to make some changes and flash it again and now it?s like this.
I have tried deleting the license file and resyncing interface as well as vcm beta to no avail.
Bit annoyed lol paid for 4 credits and it?s not working correctly when it very clearly states it?s supported on the website.
Had a very similar experience with an med9.1 mk5 golf wouldn?t work at all and support pretty much said not supported to me which was stupid. Thankfully I didn?t license it that time.
If I was to hazard a guess I?d say it?s some shit to do with TPROT.
Just to be clear as well I made 0 modifications to any starting related parameters and given the weird fans going 100% I don?t think it?s user error.
I have contacted support I?m waiting on a reply. Also I?m based in Aus if that?s any help.

quick update I discovered that hp tuners was registering the gti as a golf r with the following os #(5K0907115___0050) to my knowledge gti roms should start with 1k?, seems that the checksum wasnt completely out of wack until I had modified tables which due to checking with a downloaded comparison file, non existent on a gti stock file. This was mainly noticed with some extra driver demand tables the r has that the gti does not.
I have recieved a little back and forth with support pre easter but granted every 2 days unfortunately, hopefully I hear more back overnight (from australia) as all this info ive just said before I have kinda figured out of my own volition hoping to help/speed support along.
Overall I believe the issue lies in the wrong (golf r) definitions being applied to my GTI
some little tid bits ive found as well include:
on the ecu itself it contains the numbers: 5k0 907 115 which i thought refer to golf r but also 1k0 907 115 AA which i thought refers to gti. it also confirmed it is in fact an MED17.5 as was detected.
