Sounds like you've got a solid setup with the LML Allison and it’s great to hear the truck is performing well. I’ve seen similar performance improvements in older Duramaxes when people add an LB7 EGR delete kit. Removing the EGR can reduce buildup and improve throttle response, especially when you're pushing higher RPMs or towing heavier loads. If you're seeing good results already, the EGR delete could be a worthwhile addition to prevent future issues with carbon buildup and potentially even improve fuel efficiency.

The truck is a 2002 federal emission vehicle so it didn't have a EGR system installed from the factory the trucks that did were only California compliant emissions Duramax trucks. Ya the truck just keeps on chugging it is used daily by my younger brother as his work vehicle for his farrier service. We removed the bed from the truck last year and he build a custom rig like a Stonewell so all his horse shoe products, forge, and anvil could fit neatly without the need to pull a enclosed trailer. One huge plus on these 23 year old trucks is they are still on the road today yes parts go bad along the way such as the aged original transmission, injectors, steering components, etc. But when these parts go bad rather than installing the same OEM parts why not upgrade like GM did over the years and breath new life into a old reliable truck.

Love the setup that rig looks nice. I like these older trucks even for a daily driver. Doing an 02 fed myself as a fun truck and man, there is all sorts of room to work and its as simple as it gets

That's so true Stroked these older trucks are just made better to be honest and don't have the intricacy of the newer diesel trucks with the all that mess under the hood. My little brother likes his truck and has always liked the LB7 vs the LLY & newer Duramax trucks he has now had 2 LB7's and a LLY. He uses this truck daily for work and has only needed to replace the CP3, front end parts, a couple sensors and a Allison in all the years, miles and hauls it has done prior to the new rig on the back. I have been doing more and more 6 speed conversions lately and to be honest the best way to do one is with a newer 06 & up Allison unless your GEN 1 unit has had pump changes (upgrade kits installed) the original pumps especially in the LB7 01- early 04 trucks just aren't as stout as the newer Allison design and it seems they have issues holding pressure when aged. I'm about to tear open my little brothers stock 02 Allison he gave me when we did the LML Allison swap his had issues with the 3-4 shift annd developed a incorrect gear ratio code.
