so maybe what i was suggesting is how it works...

What is your theory on global providing additional protection?

Nothing I’ve seen in the data would suggest that. What I described in the previous post tracks against the data I am seeing, with ECM 2023 set to both Global and Per-Cyl.

And I know you’ve seen logs where KR is kicking in even though the knock sensor voltage is below the threshold set in the individual cylinder tables you saw it on some of my previous logs even. And now you’ve also seen it where the voltage exceeds the threshold but doesn’t trigger KR (in the log yiu texted me about). That’s not because ECM 2023 is set to global though, as I have logs of it happeneing even before I change it to Per-Cyl.

There’s more to the algorithm that just a simple threshold crossing. It’s true I am making an assumption it is a pattern recognition algorithm, but being that my day job deals with this sort of thing, I feel it’s a pretty solid and informed assumption. At least it’s how I would design it to function, and the data seem to support that theory.

well yeah, that much is certain.

but flipping that switch in the tune does more than just change what channels are avail when scanning...

Stoopalina is right, again! He shared his channels list with me, and it shows each cylinder knock. Trust me, he knows what he’s talking about

Just a quick update. Didn’t really get to do anything to the truck this weekend but last night swapped o2 sensors and nothing changed. Still cylinder 5 misfires so I’m gonna try new plugs and swap injectors and see what happens. I’m gonna try to get this issue resolved before I mess with anything else tune related. Truck runs and drives fine if you stay below 4k and 60 or so % throttle. Thanks for all the replies. I’m gonna have some questions about the knock signals that’s being discussed once I get back to that point. Thanks again.

Did you check to make sure all your pushrods were seated correctly?

I haven’t pulled the covers and checked since it’s been back together but I did pay close attention and check several times while installing the rocker arms. And made sure they were all seated again before closing it up. I’m leaning more towards the injector on that cylinder than plugs since sometimes it will continue to miss when I come off the throttle and randomly clear up. Sometimes immediately sometimes a couple minutes of driving. If neither one of those I’ll pull the valve cover and make sure they are seated and put an indicator on and make sure it’s not a lifter. I sure hope not

Shouldn't be a lifter, but always start with the easiest. Swap injectors and see if the miss moves, then coil, the spark plug. Hopefully it is that simple

Finally got my misfire issue resolved. Ended up pulling all of the injectors having them cleaned and replacing number 5. Naturally its running a lot better since its not missing under load and the B1 o2 hasnt bottomed out and stayed there like it was during all of the misfires. Still has some KR and still has some shuttering every now and then under light on off throttle cruising but its definitely better. Now I just need to start trying to get everything dialed in better. Its still kind of a pig and isnt going to like towing the boat but hopefully I can make it better BTR cam rev 4.hpl btr cam rev 4.hpt
