    Red face Intake manifold volume

After installing a Holley High Ram intake manifold do you guys also change the Intake Manifold Volume number in the speed density settings? I beleive the Holley hi ram has LESS volume than a stock 6.1 intake? thanks in advance

hardly anyone here runs those here without turbos

lets see the log of it making a pass with stock volume entered, vs the decreased volume

please post the time slips too

Im running one in my NA set up. Of course I also have mine set up to hold 15.75L of volume and also have a ported 6.4L intake as a secondary. The numbers I see with my set up on each of these intakes isnt really as different as you might think. Of course I make 21 ft lbs more torque with the 6.4L intake but the Hi Ram is adding roughly 23HP more than the 6.4L intake. Id still prefer the 6.4L intake between the two overall Id say. But having 224cc heads and pushing the volume up from 12.67L up to 15.75L on the Hi-Ram is likely what made it even remotely competitive in this case.

Yea, I think finding a way to increase the total volume up into the 15's Liter range is the only way to run the Hi-Ram with a NA set-up. Otherwise, as Lil Sick had mentioned above, well... without actually saying it...trying to run this Hi-Ram intake straight up / "as is" with its much smaller total volume of just over 12 1/2 liters, on ANY NA set-up (including my own) will prove to be a huge disapointment, as you will suffer a substancial loss in both peak and overall torque, especially for those switching from a 6.4L intake to the Hi-Ram. Even given how heavily modified my NA Stroker build is, when I first switched from the 6.4L intake to the "as is" 12-ish Liter Hi-Ram, the dyno had me dropping almost 50 ft/lbs of torque compared to my torque values on the dyno, running the 6.4L truck intake. Had I not been able to increase the total volume by adding the Nitrous Xpress Hi- Ram Nitrous plate kit and managed to recover about 30 of the 50 ft/lbs of torque I had lost, while also adding on 29 HP to my peak HP number when running the 6.4L intake, I probably would have removed my Hi-Ram the same day it was installed and immediately gotten rid of it. So even when installed on one of the "better case scenario NA builds" and then increasing the Hi-Ram's total volume from 12.67L to 15.75L, when compared to dyno numbers while running the 6.4L truck intake, with the 15.75L Hi-Ram, I had gained 29 HP, but then lost 22 ft/lbs of torque (peak measurements for both), so lets just say that I managed to break even. So the real reason the Hi-Ram is still on my truck today is just because it is more aesthetically pleasing than the plastic 6.4L truck intake. So if you are NA, and are on the fence about getting the Hi-Ram intake for your build, you should probably hop on down off of that fence...
