    Mustang dyno coastdown loss

Curious what transmissions should not be shifted to neutral at speed. I know the th400, th350, 4l80e are a no no. Any others besides these? Im guessing all 60s-90s 3 speeds? 700r4?

Maybe a PowerGlide. I've done it with all the first mentioned(with the owners knowledge/permission/participation).

A little scary, more so in hindsight.

If this relates to Mustang's Holeshot operation, my understanding is it is best to source the data from an outside source, and not tempt fate.

I still use PowerDyne and my testing concerned alum rod engines not wanting any engine braking; Shift to Neutral, return to idle speed, cut engine, coast to stop.

The seeming necessity to conduct coastdowns in Holeshot (and other things) was why I decided to stick with what I have.

I didn't really answer your question, perhaps this helps.

No, unfortunately. You might look at the Mustang dyno user group on Facebook.

I've done this a lot. I haven't done it in years decades even.. but a cup team I do personal cars for would do a coast down on everything we dynoed over there.

It can be enlightening but overall seemed like a waste of time. This was all done on dynojets.
