3-5-r wave removed and extra clutch tuning
Removed the 35r and 456 waves and added one extra clutch each. Focusing on just the 2-3 shift for now... Initially flared pretty bad. Adding or reducing oncoming volume preset seemed to make it worse. Adding 10% to the offgoing clutch made it better and seemed perfect under 45% throttle. However above that, it falls apart. I don't want to add more because it will bind.
Here's the log with 10% added. If anyone wants to see a stock one i can go make one. Idk where it went.

I know its not going to be a perfect shift feel with these mods, but I want to get the tune to the point where I'm not burning clutches. It is a 7500lb truck.

update: With no offgoing pressure bump and clamping the fill volume for 2-3 at 29 from 21 and setting min and max to 29, it feels pretty dang good. There is no noticable bind on the log but its kind of weird like there's a point in the shift where the rpm stays rock steady for a split second before it hits the inertia phase. I wonder if thats just because it has a .3 second shift time but its really crisp.34 2 shifts good.hpl34 33 plus 4.hpt

Looks like it has a tiny bit of bind atleast twice. Id agree overall the the 3rd apply is probably good enough to live with. I gave up for awhile now, but at some point I will try to find a different table that can change the way the ECM applys the clutch being there is no cushion/wave plate.

Okay. Quick question but an important one. How can I tell if there's a bind by looking at the log? If you wouldn't mind, maybe a screenshot with a circle would help lol.

I think I have everything close enough that it's drivable. Only think left is the 5-6 shift. It has a flare early on. the 2-6 pack has not been modified but maybe the way the 3-5-r clutch releases is too quick without the wave? There is no issue with the 1-2 shift at all. Im thinking I need to add offgoing pressure? Or should I try to fix first with oncoming volume?

Potential Tuner
I built my 6l80 the same way with a circle d kit and sonnax parts. I removed my wave plates and have an issue with the gears hunting/cluncking while coasting hills with no throttle. But everything else is perfect. Did you ever figure out what changes were needed?
