MPVI2 J1850/ Serial Bus No protcol detected issue

As subject states. Heard about this happening. What is the fix? Can communicate with GM Gen 4 & 5 (CAN) ECUs fine. Switched cords, laptops & desk tops, resync'd device, tried 4 different Gen3 ECUs one which this device has licensed. Downloaded & installed latest VCU software. Same result. Lights blink as its trying to communicate but same result in both editor & scanner programs. Have a couple Gen 3 units I need to program currently & now have an unexpected hurdle. Claim ticket submitted, but haven't heard back.

I'm pretty sure I found your ticket 488096 and it was replied to on May 14th, I suggest checking your spam folder. BTW you appear to have emailed from a different email address than that of your forum account.

Not seeing any response in any folder. Resubmitted the issue w/ attached debug.dat file which won't upload here. Regarding the email, it did change, but should still receive from either unless is its the @2ndgeneng exchange which is no longer used. Current email in my forum profile is an active email account as with the address entered in the ticket request.

we've replied to your new ticket number 488548.

With that said here is the reply just in case you don't receive the new reply.

"Because we do not offer a repair option on device we would recommend the upgrade path in this case since the device still seems to function outside of the VPW chip failure.

MPVI3 upgrades are now available via your device portal https://www.hptuners.com/my-account/...ices-endpoint/

Instructions and shipping information are available there in detail."

1 - Was this issue fixable in the past prior to #3 being released or did HPT issue a new unit at that time? Are you able to share the fix ?

2 - I do a bit with the Gen 3 ECUs (serial) & some feedback states the 3 has consistent lock up issues when interfacing with them. Input? This is a concern for me.

3 - If I decide to keep the 2 & purchase the 3 on the same account, any past credits will remain on the 2 & not switch over to the 3? Only perk to turning the 2 in is 6 credits?
4 - Is there an adapter for the Prolink from 2 to 3 or best to get the 3 prolink with the new style end?

    1. no we've never offered a repair option on MPVI2 or newer devices. As stated the fix is the upgrade path.
    2. nothing device specific, shouldn't be a concern.
    3. correct, nothing will switch over to the 3. Perk is keeping your licenses, credits, tunerlock on one device, free credits, more vehicle support, etc. Many more pros than cons.
    4. no

For the credit / license swap & bonus , does the MPVI3 need to purchased from HPT directly or can it be purchased from a vendor & sent in with he MPVI2?

You get no credit bonus by sending in two devices to combine. Credit bonus only comes into play if you take the upgrade path via your customer portal.
