Never tuned. 3rd gen ram. 5.7 hemi

    Greetings,
I picked up an 3rd gen this past weekend and would like to do some tuning. I was told it?s got a chip and tube already done but I can?t confirm anything unless I get a tuner unless there?s another way to check. It was a first responder vehicle in a past life. Sounds good and runs good.

All I?m looking to do is deactivate MDS and bump idle to 750rpm. I?ve been reading the stickies and the one about rpm editing is a bit, over my head. I assumed, wrong, that it would be as easy as just setting the idle speed in a table or tab somewhere but I see it?s not. Am I correct?

I?ve watched a few videos about it as well and I?ve seen disabling MDS is in a tab and it?s an easy click but idle is a bunch of math that hurts my head I?m sad to say

I?m looking at the new model tuner, the 3 and I?d need 2 credits. I also saw something about making sure the ecu was supported and I believe mine is.

there is no chip for tuning on these, yes it is only 2 credits, post your tune file and I can edit the idle rpm for you.

I?ve not bought it yet, still doing research. That $500 is a hard pill to swallow.

well if 500.00 is to much $$ I would suggest not modding the truck at all. its only going to get more expensive and performance is like crack..

Yeah, I know lol. It?s not to expensive it?s just, a lot to drop at once for something like that. I don?t plan on doing anything else honestly. It?s got a k&n and is straight piped. If anything I?ll put mufflers on, maybe some headers and the rest would be cosmetic.

So there?s no chips for these trucks so if anything was done to it, it was done with a tuner. And the only way to confirm, is to get a tuner. Right? I?ve already got the go ahead from the wife to buy one so it?s fine, it?s just hard to pull the trigger lol

that is correct you need to do a read of the PCM and compare it to a stock file and see if any changes have been made.
