Thread: speed density os question

    speed density os question

My son and I are building his first truck. Its an 82 c10 I put a 5.3 in with a 2000 camaro ls1 pcm and aftermarket ls1 harness. I'm wanting to run it without a maf. It has a texas speed chop nsr cam, 4l60e, ls1 injectors (don't have the number right now), and an early truck intake, with manifolds and full exhaust. Should I change to a speed density os or fail the mass air flow and stay with the stock os? There is a speed density- enhanced rtt, a 2bar, and a 3 bar os available. Would The enhanced rtt be the one I would use with a stock map sensor?

Yes, you should change to the sd enhanced OS if you plan on failing the MAF. It will eliminate some factory default problems that occur when the MAF fails on a stock OS. No need for the 2 or 3bar options unless you are running forced induction.

Thanks. The other post helped a lot. I didn’t know the maf would still have to be failed in the sd os.

The problem is that a lot of us forget what we didn't know when we started. I ran across your thread the other day, and I still forgot to mention that to this guy. None of the SD OS options break your MAF. They just eliminate the problems caused by failing it if you do wish to not use it. There are lots of things that seem like "common knowledge" after you have known them for a few years that are not obvious at all when you are first learning.

    many times i just forget
sometimes i ask questions on here that probably seem off the wall, but, in reality its to remind me of what has been forgotten.

Use the 1 bar SD enhanced for this.
