    2016 Tahoe AFM/DOD DELETE NIGHTMARE

    Aloha from Hawaii,

I have a 2016 Tahoe LT 5.3 L83, only owner and only serviced by the dealer. The transmission crapped out at 30k(warranty), and the lifter failed at 70k (warranty), and now the lifters failed again at 113k, and I recently did the AFM/DOD delete due to a second collapsed lifter. While changing it out, I found a crack in the block, which I assume is from the dealer because they were the only ones to touch the car since I bought it brand new. I got a new small block and changed the oil pump, timing components, thermostat, coolant temp sensor, radiator, overflow, and water pump. HP TUNER disabled the AFM/DOD and zeroed the vvt. The truck runs smoothly in the park and, most times, in gear but has a looping idle, and it sounds like it wants to die in low idle gear. The reservoir kept dumping the coolant, hence the new radiator, reservoir, temp sensor, water pump, and thermostat. The temperature usually seems fine, and it sounds smooth in the park. Oil pressure is a decent 30-50psi. Any ideas or tuning help would be greatly appreciated.

On quick read your overheating condition i've seen people put the heads gaskets on incorrectly and have this problem. Not saying it is your problem but you shoud verify its not if possiable.

I hope it's not that. 🤦🏽*♂️ We removed the thermostat with just the housing to verify that there was no blockage, and we didn't have any issues. We replaced the thermostat and the coolant temp sensor, and it seemed to correct itself.

I'm not sure of the specs, but it was a Mizumo Auto AFM/DOD delete kit cam, which I believe is a stock cam.
