    card type mass

how hard is it to switch from a old style screen type to a card type? ive seen how to do the wiring move the cold air temp sensor out of t. just didnt know if there is a change in the tuning to the card type. i told it reads faster then the screen type.

Entire MAF curve has to be retuned from scratch. And unless you are hitting the g/s or frequency limit of the old MAF, you get zero benefit.

ok , just a question on it. you would think newer is better. but not always the case.

Well I have a 68 camaro with LS6 engine and switched from Old style MAF (SLP) to LS7/LS3 card style MAF mounted on the horizontal portion of my cold air intake tube. Unfortunately, the MAF is now more exposed to engine heat as well as hot air blown from the fans. I am getting high IATs because of that. I am still struggling with tuning to address idle dips & stalls, which happen intermittently despite of adjusting throttle follower/cracker decay delay as well as BRAF. I am thinking of reverting back to the old MAF, which was mounted just downstream of the filter cone.

MAF curve is readily available and the cartridge MAF does work substantially better than older style MAFs in addition to being much less restrictive.

    possibly..
but some 'builds' need the card over the giant eyesore of the non card style.

I would personally run MAF only before I ever ran Speed Density myself.
