I am trying to read a ECM on 2020 Ford Ecoboost Mustang and getting this error.
I can log, cannot read. Any ideas?

Try the latest Beta, and also make sure you have the laptop connected to the net. anything 2020 and newer you have to be connected in order to open tunes, or do pretty much anything.

this usually means no internet connection

It also sometimes means that someone has patched the flash sequence. Cobb does this, but I'm not sure if they do on this model year

I moved from Cobb to HPtuners and had similar issues.
I had to first update my Cobb software and then download my OEM file, from my Cobb accessport, to my ECU.
Then I was able to read and edit, my 2018 Ecoboost Mustang's ECU and TCM.

Can confirm this happens when trying to do a read on a PCM with a Cobb AP installed.

I believe the newest beta should fix this. Do a virtual read, then write over the COBB file

Yep tested that over a Cobb file and works great for getting back to stock.

I just did a virtual read on my 2020 eco mustang and am unable to write the file back in. I got the x74 negative response code. Same thing happens when I try to just read to original file out except I get the ?not supported in active session? message. I don?t want to keep the current file, just want it returned to stock so I can start fresh. It?s obviously locked by someone else but I have no way of knowing who. I thought virtual read would just write back in over the locked file but it does not. Any advice on making this work or will I need to have Ford flash it stock?

Might have to do a dealer visit and have them flash it to stock, kinda sucks... But at least they'll put the latest software on when they do it.
I really hate it when tuners just outright disable all OBD access, really ruins the next owners day when they want to do something.

Post an infolog while connected please. We can probably add a way to get around this.

Hey Eric, I'm running into this exact same thing. cant read a 2020 GT, new owner of car said previous owner kept to cobb device.

Any way to get around this and read the file or take back to stock?
